This hotfix solves the critical vulnerability issue described in the security advisory FSC-2005-1. This vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to execute code on affected machines.

Certain malformed LHA archives cause a buffer overflow when scanning them for viruses. Gateway products that encounter a malformed archive of this kind will shut down and restart the offending module automatically. The performance degradation caused by this may be used as a denial of service attack. Mail containing this kind of malformed archives will be handled according to the product settings for malformed messages.

F-Secure recommends users of this gateway product to apply the hotfix as soon as possible.

F-Secure BackWeb Client 6.31 when used with any version of F-Secure Anti-Virus for Firewalls

This is a F-Secure BackWeb Client security update. This update fixes security problem found in the F-Secure BackWeb Client version 6.31 where a normal user could gain system rights via F-Secure BackWeb Client user interface.

F-Secure recommends all customers using F-Secure BackWeb Client 6.31 to apply this hotfix. If earlier version of F-Secure BackWeb Client is used, F-Secure recommends to update the F-Secure BackWeb Client version first.

This Hotfix should be applied if:

Sometimes the system restart could work the problem out. However, the problem could show up again. This post-fix fixes the problem with writing alerts to LogFile.log and sending them to the administrator. It is recommended to apply this fix only if you experience one of the above mentioned problems.

This hotfix fixes an interoperability problem with Recent Transaction Results Cache interoperability when used with Cyberguard firewalls.
