What to do if the computer is infected?

How to detect a virus if you do not have F-Secure Anti-Virus?

If you do not have an F-Secure Anti-Virus product in use, do one of the following to check whether your computer is clean:

• Scan your computer with the F-Secure Online Virus Scanner.


• Download an evaluation version of an F-Secure product as follows:
  1. Download the evaluation version of the desired F-Secure product from here. Normally, there is no need to change the predefined settings of the product.
  2. Once you have installed the product, you may execute the manual scanning of your computer. The product disinfects the viruses detected.
  3. Once the scanning is complete, check the scanning report to see if the computer is still infected.
  4. If the computer is still infected with viruses that the product is unable to disinfect, you can submit the virus or other malware to F-Secure for analysis.
  
  
• Download the F-Secure Anti-Virus for DOS product version which is free for home users as follows:
  1. Download the F-Secure Anti-Virus for DOS product from here. For instructions on how to use the software, see How to use F-Prot for DOS?
  2. Create boot disks and copy the software to the disks.
  3. Start your computer with the boot disks and scan the computer. For more information, see this FAQ file.
