General Use

Q8. How can I make and send an FSDIAG?

The F-Secure diagnostics tool (FSDIAG) gathers vital information from your system and generates a collection of log files. This data contains information about your F-Secure product, as well as operating system logs and system settings. In some cases this information might be considered confidential. All data collected by the FSDIAG is stored locally. You will need to send the FSDIAG to our support engineers who will use it to solve technical problems specific to your computer.

To generate and send the FSDIAG file:

1. Double-click My Computer.

2. Double-click Local Disk (C:).

3. Double-click Program Files.

4. Double-click F-Secure Internet Security.

5. Double-click Common.

6. Double-click FSDIAG or FSDIAG.EXE. The MS-DOS window opens (black screen).

7. Press the Enter key to run the FSDIAG, or press any other key to quit.

Running the FSDIAG can take several minutes to complete depending on your system speed and configurations. When the FSDIAG has finished, it will generate an FSDIAG.TAR or FSDIAG.TAR.GZ zip file in the following folder, .../F-Secure Internet Security/Common.

Note! If you have installed F-Secure Internet Security to a path other than c:\program files\F-Secure Internet Security\common\, you will need to browse to the FSDIAG file of that path.

8. Attach the FSDIAG.TAR or FSDIAG.TAR.GZ file to a Support Request. A support professional will process your request and contact you. Please wait for our reply.

Important! After submitting a support request you will get an email reply from F-Secure containing your support request's Ticket-ID.Please save the Ticket-ID, as you will need it for reference.

You can also download and run the FSDIAG from our FTP Server (ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/support/tools/fsdiag/fsdiag.zip).
