Q2. Why is the F-Secure Internet Security icon missing from the
Windows system tray?
Check the following:
- In Windows XP, icons may be hidden. Click the arrow button on the Windows system tray (next to the clock) to show the hidden icons.
- Check that the program can be started from the Windows Start menu:
Select Start > All Programs > F-Secure Internet Security > Open F-Secure Internet Security.
- Uninstall any other antivirus or firewall products from your computer.
- Scan the computer for viruses by using one of the following:
- If the instructions above do not help, make sure that Windows is updated with the latest patches:
To check for Windows updates, double-click the Automatic Updates icon on the Windows system tray.
- If
- the product icon is not shown in the system tray when you log in as a user, but the icon is shown when you log in as an administrator;
- you receive an error message similar to:
FSM32.exe - Application Error. The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000022), click OK to terminate the application.;
you do not have the permission to read and execute files in the following folders:
- C:\Program Files\F-Secure (installation folder)
- C:\Windows\system32
